It’s really not all that difficult this week. About two months ago I wrote on the blog about the “early celebration” Democrats were having over their $3,500,000,000,000 infrastructure bill. They were acting like it was a done deal when it clearly was not. It clearly remains in the “not” category yet today.
The leader of this group of knuckleheads promised yesterday that there would be a vote on both the reconciliation bill and the infrastructure bill. That was a doomed strategy from the get go.
Of course she didn’t manage to get that done. Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and White House liaisons Susan Rice and Brian Deese tried until late Thursday night to reach a deal before House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., announced there would be no further votes for the evening.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki assured everyone that all is well (not!) within the Democratic party. “While Democrats do have some differences, we share common goals of creating good union jobs, building a clean energy future, cutting taxes for working families and small businesses, helping to give those families breathing room on basic expenses — and doing it without adding to the deficit, by making those at the top pay their fair share,” she added.
Is anyone else tired of hearing this bullshit? The top already pays their fair share – and then some.
Could the rich pay more? Well yes, but why should they? The government and this republic belongs to all of us, and there isn’t anyone among us who thinks congress does a good job of running anything. The phrase “good enough for government work” was coined for a reason.
“But what about corporations!” screams the radical left. What about them? Do you honestly think that raising corporate tax rates raises revenues? Even if it does, we all know these costs get passed to the consumer. Who gets hurt worst by that? The single mom with a couple of kids who can’t believe how much a gallon of milk costs.
Anyone with a decent set of eyes right now knows that Democratic policies have caused inflation to be well above average in 2021. They keep telling us it’s transitory. Anyone walking out of the grocery store shaking their head these days knows better.
The Democrat’s plan to borrow and spend trillions is a stupid idea. Frankly I can’t believe there aren’t more than two Democratic Senators who are balking at this. My guess is there are a few more who also disagree with it, but they are keeping their mouth shut and letting Manchin and Sinema do all the heavy lifting on this one.
In the end I think they’ll pass something, but it won’t be this behemoth of idiocy.
Even W. B. acknowledges his top 1% should probably pay more but why do we stop there? Why aren’t we advocating for ALL TO PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE? Do not ALL OF US (everyone from Buffet down to my neighbor who makes 16K a year working 4 days a week at the local hardware store) enjoy the benefits of paved federal roadways? An army, navy, air force & a coast guard who protects ALL OF US? All kinds of law enforcement to provide additional protection (FBI, Homeland Security, etc.)? Federal monies for education? And one of my favorites, why shouldn’t we ALL kick in a few nickels to provide stronger VA hospitals/services for those individuals who gave a portion of their lives to stand between us & those who would like to do us in?? Federal stats note just over 40% of all household don’t pay federal taxes. That’s over 100,000,000 people are enjoying the above mentioned benies (but even more not listed) but NOT PAYING THEIR FAIR SHARE! Think about this; new guide stating all individuals not paying federal taxes now have a new minimum of 50 cents a day. That’s right, a lousy 50 cents a day to have all their current federal benies maintained. Most would probably grumble a bit but most of those would probably acknowledge that’s probably fair. Do the math – that total IS IN THE TRILLIONS! Now add in a “fair” amount for those who are currently paying taxes and look at what we have to work with to solve our federal money needs! Finally, when I look at this politically, I am dismayed to realize the Democrats have just bought this group off for a lousy 50 cents a day! Oh well!!!
Well said. I can add nothing.
