The Swamp Strikes Back

Lawmakers today applauded their genius and were quick to tout how they were able to strike a bi-partisan deal on infrastructure in the senate.

“When you have Chuck Schumer and you have Mitch McConnell voting for the same thing in a bill this large, you have a good thing,” Democratic Senator Joe Manchin, a key swing vote, said on Friday.

Except you’re reading this blog, making you smarter than the average bear, so you know exactly what this is right…… it’s

Did they pass a bill for infrastructure in the senate? Yes they did. Will it ever become law – doubtful.

Stumbling block number 1 – President dementia has said that he won’t sign it unless the Democrats also send a $3,500,000,000,000 bill on top of that is also passed. Sounds like a guy wanting to unify to me. Democrats plan to try to sneak that through via reconciliation.

Stumbling block number 2 – Nancy Pelosi has said she won’t bring the bill to the house floor unless the Senate also sends over the $3,500,000,000,000 bill with all the Democrat wish list bullshit spending it. Biden won’t have anything to sign if she keeps that threat up.

Stumbling block number 3 – two Democratic Senators, Joe Manchin and Krystin Sinema have both said they do not want to vote for the huge bill, and they don’t support ending the filibuster either, so it has, at least at this point, little chance of passing. Of course anything could happen that might change those two’s minds.

Stumbling block number 4 – this could backfire dramatically on the Democrats. Polling (the word we hate the most) indicates that Americans overall are not in favor of the gigantic 3.5 trillion dollar bill. With good reason. The other problem they have is that if they do agree to pump another 4.5 trillion dollars total into the economy, the inflation we are already feeling in our wallets can only get worse. It’s simple supply and demand.

Stumbling block number 5 – fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Americans remember vividly the last time the Democrats had the power to bully through legislation. That’s what got us Obamacare. The “affordable” care act. Except after ten years we know it’s not affordable, the coverage sucks, and insurers have given up on the plans in all but the states where they think they can make a dime off of it. Nobody, not even a Democrat, believes the government can give us anything that actually works.

So they might pass it, but when you’re paying $3.79/gallon come the mid term elections next year, how’s that going to go? Stay tuned for the next episode in the trilogy…

I lack the confidence you have in the GOP. I consider them “Back stabbing weasels.” (I’m being polite.)

Our senators & representatives have voted in ways that utterly contradict their stated opinions (they’ve lied). Nope, I’m not holding my breath.
